On behalf of the Woodend Primary School staff, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our school. At Woodend Primary School we understand that this is one of the most important decisions you will make as a parent. Our day to day practice is child-centred and builds on the needs of the individual learner.
Being a progressive school, we are proud of the extensive programs that we offer including specialist programs for Library, Art, Music, Physical Education and LOTE – French. The school provides extensive experiences for students with technology and all students in Years 4, 5 & 6 have a netbook computer. We also offer a range of extra–curricular activities including School Choir, Guitar and Keyboarding classes, French, Camping and Swimming Programs, a range of interschool Sporting opportunities. At our Carlsruhe Annexe our Year 4 students enjoy being in a rural environment and engaging in experiences that focus on animal husbandry, sustainability and kitchen-garden.
At Woodend Primary we focus on building high self-esteem and a culture of high expectations for all learners. We believe that all children can learn, and we strive to foster in each child a desire to achieve their personal best.
As Principal of Woodend Primary School, I am proud of the programs that we deliver at our school. Learning is an exciting, life-long endeavour, and my staff and I are proud to have both the opportunity and responsibility to ensure a solid foundation for your child as they begin or continue their educational journey. We will strive to provide a positive educational experience conducive to learning.
It is the goal of the staff at Woodend Primary School to work with you to create a rich learning environment for all students. Education and student success is a shared responsibility between the school staff, students and parents. As we work with our students to help them learn about the world around them through an innovative curriculum, we welcome and appreciate the support that parents give their children at home as they strive to reach their learning goals. The foundation of a successful school is the cooperation between the students, staff, parents and community.
We pride ourselves on our strong relationship with our Woodend Community. Our school community is strongly linked to our local community. The parents, teachers and children have a very strong community spirit and are committed to ensuring the school remains a happy and safe place for learning and growing.
At Woodend Primary, we believe wellbeing and relationships underpin the success and achievements of our students. Our Positive Education Philosophy underpins how we act and think and build, maintain and restore relationships with others. To promote student attendance and punctuality, we foster opportunities to inspire student engagement in learning and actively encourage students to look forward to tomorrow. Our philosophy toward student success and achievement is underpinned by our School Values. As a learning community, we acknowledge the capacity of everyone as both a learner and a teacher.
I look forward to working with you and developing a relationship that will assist in the growth of your child/children.
